History, Keepsakes, Family, Frugality, and Politics, as well as his beloved Trains and Philadelphia are some of the interest and events that has shaped and formed my grandfather’s life. As familiar as he is to me, many of the things that have shaped and formed his past seem so foreign. There are many things that he, as well as his generation, have experienced that I never will. This series as a whole is an investigative portrait of my Pop. These photos are not only meant to be seen as my depiction of my grandfather during this particular stage of his life, but as recording of his life as a whole, a retrospective. It is the duality between the past and its influences as well as the current’s that create a person, and what I am visually investigating.
